Power Transmission with Tradition
The time honored company HENSCHEL was founded in the year 1810 in Kassel and started its activities in gearbox production in 1918, parallel with the start of the HENSCHEL automobile production. HENSCHEL power transmission produced for its own semi and bus production the needed axle gears, transfer gearboxes, gearsets for diesel engines and miscellaneous other gearing parts.
After diesel powered and electrical locomotives became the future of railway transportation in Germany in the beginning of the 60´s, we developed and produced axle, transfer and nose-suspension gearboxes for various requirements of locomotives and trams. Up to now our drives are intrinsically tied with the progress of railway technology.
Innovative in many Branches
Also in other areas our ideas are trend setting in the industry, as underlined by many patents. Since the production of the first counter-rotating parallel twin shaft extruder gearbox in 1972 HENSCHEL Antriebstechnik became a leading manufacturer of twin screw extruder gearboxes.
